Stupid Sun
A follow up to the last post about JDocs - Sun has apparently decided that having access to J2SE, J2ME and J2EE APIs from someone other than themselves is A Bad Thing ™. It looks like Sun thinks that JDocs.com presents a threat "the integrity of the Java platform." What I think it really is is that Sun is threatened by the possibilty of user commentable API docs - where people can point out dumb design decisions problems directly in the API.
This is where Sun's half-baked community process method of developing Java breaks down. Sun likes to tout Java as being more open than other alternatives out there (e.g. .Net/C#). But then it does something like this and it's all too apparent that there really isn't any difference between Sun and Microsoft. At least MS makes good IDEs ;-) Now if only I could get ASP.net to run under OS X via Mono ...
